On Thursday 15 October 2026 the Isle of Man Veteran Athletes’ Club hosted the second of the Hansard Global Handicap races. Although it was a cloudy evening, the wind had dropped and, not being too cold, conditions were very good around the NSC outer track.
The competition consisted of a 10km handicapped run and a 5km handicapped walk, with athletes starting at different times according to their best recent time for the distance.
This year we had our first wheelchair athlete, Mike Ryan, who mentioned how tricky the constant camber is on his chair, and set his best 10k time. Although the event was for senior athletes (18+), the club agreed to time seven juniors as guests, outside the competition.
Top three
| 10km run | 5km walk | Junior guests |
|---|---|---|
| Rosa Nelson Rohrer 1:03.07 | Phill Swales 40.36 | Tim Perry 42.26 |
| Moira Hall 1:05.21 | Maxine Lace 41.05 | Lilee Fletcher 42.30 |
| Margaret McCabe 1:06.03 | Yanisa Sananveah 42.14 | Jack Davies 42.59 |
