Report from Clive Dugdale:-

15th October 2026, the Isle of man Veterans Athletes’ Club hosted the second in the Hansard Global Handicap races (Spring and Autumn).  Although it was a cloudy evening, the wind had dropped down and being not too cold the conditions were very good for the event around the NSC outer track.

The competition consisted of a 10km handicapped run, runners starting at different times according to their best recent time, and a 5km handicapped walk, walkers starting at different times according to their best recent time for the distance.

This year we had our first wheelchair athlete, Mike Ryan, who mentioned how tricky the constant camber is on his chair, and had his best 10k time.

Although the event was for all senior athletes 18+, the club agreed to time 7 juniors as guests (not forming part of the competition).

And the top honours went to :-

10km Run

5km Walk

Junior Guests
